How to Find Your Ring Size at Home: The Complete Guide

Updated: 7 hours ago

Found the handmade ring of your dreams at Maziotis Jewels, but worried about the fit? Choosing the right size is key to enjoying your jewelry comfortably every day. Whether you are looking for a minimal band or a bold statement ring, this guide will show you how to measure your finger with professional accuracy, without any special tools.

Method 1: Internal Diameter Measurement (Most Accurate)

If you already own a ring that fits well on the specific finger, this is the best and most reliable method.

  1. Place your ring flat on a ruler or measuring tape.

  2. Measure the distance of the inner side (internal diameter) in millimeters (mm).

  3. Attention: Do not include the metal thickness in your measurement. Measure strictly the empty space inside.

Method 2: Circumference Measurement

If you don't have a reference ring:

  1. Wrap a thin strip of paper (or a string) around the base of your finger.

  2. Make sure it can slide comfortably over your knuckle.

  3. Mark where the paper overlaps with a pen to form a complete circle.

  4. Lay it flat next to a ruler and measure the length. This is your circumference.

Pro Tips for the Perfect Fit

  • Timing is everything: Measure your fingers in the evening, when they are at their natural, slightly larger size. Fingers are usually thinner in the morning.

  • Temperature matters: Fingers shrink in the cold and swell in the heat. Make sure to measure at a normal room temperature.

  • Band Width: If you are buying a wide statement band, we recommend going half a size up for a more comfortable fit.

  • Right vs. Left: Your dominant hand (e.g., the right hand if you are right-handed) is usually half to one size larger. Measure the exact finger you intend to wear the ring on.

Got your measurement? Check our International Size Chart

Now that you have your measurement in millimeters (either diameter or circumference), use the conversion chart below to find your exact ring size.

💡 Extra Tip: If your measurement falls right between two sizes, we highly recommend choosing the larger one for a more comfortable everyday fit.
